This is the second year we are doing this challenge, which not only inspires innovation but strengthens team bonds and showcases the diverse talent within our workforce. Plus, it provides a platform to experiment with new ideas.
The Main Objective:
Encourage innovation, teamwork, and the creative utilisation of wood by challenging teams to design and build unique woodworking creations. This friendly competition tests not only technical skills but also problem-solving, collaboration, and the ability to think outside the box.
- Team Formation:
- Divided into 5 teams.
- Each team has a mix of skills (designers, carpenters, finishers, etc.) to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Challenge Brief:
- Each team created a functional or artistic wooden piece.
- With the themes:
- Sustainable living (e.g., eco-friendly furniture)
- Innovative storage solutions
- Artistic sculptures or decorative pieces
- Multi-functional furniture
- Judging Criteria:
- Innovation (30%): How creative and unique is the design?
- Functionality (20%): Is the design practical or useful?
- Workmanship (20%): Quality and precision of the craftsmanship.
- Teamwork (20%): Evidence of collaboration and shared effort.
- Presentation (10%): How well the final piece and process are showcased.
